Over the next 18 months we have ambitious plans to survey the condition of every home we look after.
It’s called a stock condition survey. It helps us to understand the condition of all the homes we manage, which in turn helps us to plan for any future improvements your home might need.
What is a stock condition survey?
It’s a visual inspection of the inside and outside of your home. It takes around 30 minutes. The surveyor collects information on the condition of your home, looking specifically at two areas:
- Stock condition – they will assess the age and condition of major parts of your home such as the kitchen, bathroom, windows and doors.
- Energy survey – they will carry out an energy survey, which will allow us to calculate how energy-efficient your home is.
Why are we carrying these surveys?
We will use the information we gather from the surveys to plan for repairs and future investment programmes.
Who will carry out the survey?
We have appointed Michael Dyson Associates Limited to do this work. The surveyors will have an ID badge and letter of authority from MCC Housing Services so you will be able to check they are who they say they are.

This survey does not collect information on any outstanding repairs to your home. If you need a repair visit our report a repair page or ring 03000 123 123 to report a repair.
What happens after the survey?
Once Michael Dyson Associates has completed all their surveys, they send all the information to us, along with a report on the overall condition of our homes.
It will include recommended re-inspection dates for parts of your home, based on recommended lifecycles. We will use these dates to help us with our financial planning.

Why have I been asked to take part in this survey?
We are asking all MCC Housing tenants to take part. We need to survey all the homes we manage.
What will the survey involve?
It’s a visual inspection of all the key areas and building components in your property.
As this is visual only no items of furniture or any other items need to be moved and no special arrangements need to be made.
As part of the survey the surveyor might need to ask you two or three questions. The full survey should take no more than 30 minutes.
How do I know if the surveyors are genuine?
They will carry photo ID, which they will show to you on their arrival. If you are in any doubt do not let them into your home until you have checked with Michael Dyson Associates Ltd by calling 0800 328 9896 or MCC Housing Services on 03000 123 123.
