This summer, MCC Housing Services delivered a series of eight fun-filled Family Fun Days in North Manchester parks, creating a vibrant and engaging space for local residents.
The events, held during the school holidays, drew over 1,600 attendees, bringing families together to enjoy a wide range of activities—all for free!
From fairground rides to climbing walls, bungee trampolines, and circus skills, there was something for everyone. Local parks were buzzing with excitement as children and adults alike took part in archery, rubber axe throwing, face painting, arts & crafts, and more.
Partner agencies also contributed with information stalls, offering advice on housing, money management, and well-being services.
Ben Brown from the MCC Communications Team applauded the effort: "The Resident Engagement team has once again put together brilliant events packed with games, activities, and advice for local residents, and all for free!"
One key objective of these events is to ensure that partner agencies like Greater Manchester Police, Winning Hearts & Minds, and 4CT can engage directly with residents. These events provide a valuable platform for partners to connect with the community and share helpful resources.
Emma Quayle, Resident Experience Manager, emphasized the importance of these events: "They’re a fantastic way to engage with the community, recruit new members for our ‘Your Voice’ engagement group, and promote our ‘Place Called Home’ vision. It’s all about maintaining strong connections with residents."
Despite unpredictable weather, turnout remained high throughout the summer. Claire Evans of 4CT expressed her gratitude, saying: "Thank you, MCC Housing Services, for inviting us to be part of these fun days. These events are crucial, especially for families with limited financial resources during the holidays."
Ben Brown, who attended many of the events, captured the local enthusiasm: "Residents came out in droves to enjoy the free activities, regardless of the weather. These events really brought people together."
The summer fun days not only gave families an opportunity to enjoy themselves but also fostered a stronger community spirit. They helped to reduce anti-social behavior by providing structured activities that kept young people engaged.
As we look ahead, the MCC Resident Experience Team is committed to building on this success, with plans to expand engagement opportunities and further develop neighbourhood plans in 2025. Stay tuned for even more exciting events next year!
