Bereavement: Where to get support

Care Concern

They provide bereavement counselling for people all over Greater Manchester but are based near Prestwich. They initially provide 6 sessions, which can be extended if more are needed but as discussed.

Sue Ryder

Their website offers a variety of bereavement support including; resources, counselling and an online community to speak with other bereaved people. The online counselling is free and they offer a video assessment, followed by up to 6 one-to-one video sessions but will only accept a referral if the bereavement has been over 2 months.

Griefchat

This is a webchat that can offer a safe space for anyone experiencing grief and loss and needs support through a qualified bereavement counsellor. It's free of charge and is open Monday-Friday, 9am-9pm.

The Counselling Family Centre Altrincham

The centre runs a bereavement and loss online support group that runs weekly every Wednesday 7-8:30pm which is counsellor-led. Please email Farihah for a Zoom invitation and she can answer any further questions.

Gaddum Centre

Offers therapy from their branch in central Manchester. They allow self and professional referrals and usually offer between 6 to 12 sessions but may ask for the bereavement to be over 6 months. You can call them at 0161 834 6069 or find their referral form on the website.

Lets Talk About Loss

Offers a safe space and meet-ups for people aged 18- 35 to talk through taboos, connect with bereaved others and address the reality of losing someone close to you when you are young.
